Jean Smiertka Huff is a founding partner of the firm. She has been in private practice since 1993, representing numerous municipalities and school districts in Westchester and Rockland Counties, as well as commercial property owners. She has served as Special Counsel to the City of Mount Vernon from 1993 to the present on tax certiorari and in rem litigation; Special Counsel to the Town of Mount Pleasant since 1996 on tax certiorari and equalization rate litigation; Special Counsel to numerous Westchester County municipalities on equalization rate proceedings. She has assisted major law firms in their defense of municipal tax assessments. She has lectured for the New York State and Westchester County Bar Associations on the representation of municipalities and school districts in tax certiorari matters. Prior to 1993, she represented the Town of Greenburgh as Deputy Town Attorney for tax certiorari and in rem tax litigation. From 1980 to 1988, she practiced as a real estate litigator for both the private and public sectors. Jean Smiertka Huff is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and Fordham College. She is admitted to practice in New York State and in the United States District Courts, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
